The MURALS of LAKE PLACID

So it's not graffiti, it's the same thing.

Lake Placid is a small town in a rural area of Florida in the midst of orange groves just West of Lake Okeechobee. Since the early 1990's the Lake Placid townspeople decided to have their town painted with murals representing historical aspects of their community. So far, more than 30 murals have been painted, and more are coming! (the 3rd mural at the top is still in the process of being painted) The style of art is a throwback to WPA days, (the 1930's) often called, "heroic realism." All are well done. Some are exceptional. We are presenting the best here, right here, right now! (click on the small images to see an enlargement). Many more images are presented on page 2 of the Observer, but first a special offer.
